Betaine Anhydrous Breakdown

Betaine Anhydrous (trimethylglycine (TMG)) is a modified amino acid that is sourced from nature through plants such as beets.

Hoffman et al. (2011) studied the effects of supplementing with 2.5 grams of betaine anhydrous once a day for 15 consecutive days saw a significant reduction in fatigue as supposed to placebo. .
Another study conducted by Trepanowski et al. (2011) further highlighted the benefit supplementing betaine can have on athletic performance. In a double-blind study using a crossover design showed that consistent betaine supplementation of 2.5 grams a day showed increase in overall reps and volume training. This may be a result of increased muscle oxygen consumption. .

Betaine has also been shown to mimic creatine and enhance creatine production in the body through methylation of the amino acid homocysteine. Through mimicking and enhancing creatine and creatine production, the ATP process is improved.
